DIRECTOR, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT – ONE (1) POST - V/NO. 121/2016
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Principal Secretary for coordinating and administering the Youth Development function. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
(i) formulating, implementing and reviewing national youth development policies and
(ii) providing strategic leadership to Youth Directorate and ensuring high productivity of officers and excellent service delivery;
(iii) providing technical and monitoring support on implementation of all GOK ran youth projects/programmes;
(iv) coordinating technical assistance to stakeholders on matters pertaining to youth development;
(v) liaising with stakeholders to mobilize resources for youth programmes and projects;
(vi) ensuring establishment and operationalization of youth empowerment programmes;
(vii) disseminating information on youth development issues.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Deputy Director, Youth Development Job Group ‘R’ or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service;
(ii) a Bachelors Degree in any of the Social Sciences or relevant field from a university
recognized in Kenya;
(iii) a Master Degree in any of the Social Sciences or relevant field from a university recognized in Kenya;
(iv) attended a strategic leadership course from a recognized institution;
(v) demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence on matters relating to management and development of youth in the country; and
(vi) demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
