Turkana woman representative Joyce Emanikor has urged the government to increase the Uwezo Fund in counties affected by cattle rustling in the North Rift.
Speaking yesterday to the press at Turkwel, she said although peace has been restored, most reformed cattle rustlers are idle and need to money to do business.
Emanikor urged the youth who have registered groups to borrow Uwezo funds.
“Uwezo funds are lying idle in banks we need to utilise them. We need to develop this region and you are the best people to help us in transforming it,” she said.
Emanikor said the funds meant for security should be channelled to development.
“We have realised meaningful peace. Funds meant for security should be channelled to build schools, hospitals and roads."
