Woman Representative Joyce Emanikor wants all schools in Turkana to adopt greenhouse farming to curb hunger in the region. Ms Emanikor said greenhouses should be part of measures to mitigate against drought to ensure learning is not disrupted. She said the school feeding programme is inadequate as it does not reach all institutions.
"It is time we embraced sustainable projects that will directly give schools adequate food to reduce reliance on relief food," Ms Emanikor told the nation on phone yesterday.
She blamed hunger for the low enrolment in schools in the region.
