NGAAF Donates Sh.16 Million, Commissions Rental Houses, Distributes Wheelchairs And Food To Needy Residents

The Turkana women representative, Joyce Emanikor through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) on Friday donated Sh.16.7 million to support various groups in the county. The funds will benefit 20 groups in the county with the greatest beneficiary receiving Sh.5 million and the lowest Sh.200, 000. NGAAF which falls under the office of the county women representatives countrywide seeks to empower local communities to start economic activities that would boost their livelihoods. While presiding over the issuance of the cheques at Lorengelup, Turkana central constituency, the Inua Mama Initiative Chairperson, Alice Wahome lauded the decision to support the groups. “The kitty is definitely a game-changer for the local communities,” said Wahome. The function was attended by 23 women MPs from various parts of the country. The Turkana women representative had also donated goats, wheelchairs and sufurias to the residents of Lorengelup. Earlier, accompanied by the local NGAAF committee members and Kirinyaga County women representative, Wangui Ngirichi, Emanikor presided over the official handing over of 12 rental houses to a women group in Nakwamekwi, Lodwar. The rental houses will benefit 11 members of Nakeriokang women group.
